April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July. She began piano and guitar lessons from age seven. Her interest in songwriting was awakened. April Lockhart penned her first track"Different" at 12 years old. She spent lots of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. The songwriting began alongside her father in NY and LA shortly after. April started to incorporate other relevant topics into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known cosmetics brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle blogger who has a growing fan base. It's true that she was born with no left hand and that creates her unique. However, this isn't the only thing about her. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. However, it doesn't make it a point to emphasize the issue. What message does it convey? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we're much beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart has stated on video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't want to be a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. My everyday life isn't affected by it. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to problems. It's an integral element of my life and it's imperative to discuss it. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends in the area of acceptance of oneself. She admits that she has had periods where she felt insecure about dressing in certain styles that displayed her arms. She now wears whatever she likes. and she shares her photos on social networks. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I do not think that you'll ever get in that place," she said. But, this isn't typical for people that is prone to doubts. It is essential to be around those who are able to understand you.
